NOVELL AGREEMENT WITH MICROSOFT - CORPORATE BETRAYAL TO LINUX COMMUNITY
NOW, this is the danger of having linux supported by corporate leader who only looks at their wealth, rather than helping world's community. Novell is being a capitalist all this while just like microsoft does. Why Not. It's about profit, and novell wants it now.
We in the other part of the world, soon will begin to be trapped (again) in the piracy world of softwares eventhough we use linux. As the agreement stated, it only covers novell suse customers and users, NOT ALL LINUX USER. So theoritically, novell have agreed that suse linux have violates the microsoft IPs, and so is the rest of linux user.
It may be a wise decision if you guys will want to opts for another distro.

Care for Mandriva 2007?
Just to share my experiences, I've supervised the set up of my school's computer lab which preinstall with windows 98 (yes, I now what you saying) and installing Mandriva 2006 Free Edition as dual-booting (with blessing from my previous principal, Hjh Wan Noriah Wan Musa). Unfortunately, it's a mixed satisfaction, as my schools pc although Pentium 4 1.5, RAM is only 128mb which by standard is just minimal requirement. So I have to switch to PCLinuxOS 0.92 and part of the lab using Edubuntu 6.06. for malaysian teacher who have an interest with this kind of experiment at your school, you may contact me via this blog to share my experience. It's kind of easy to do it, as long as you don't violate Windows licensing.
In my case, I suggest the school to try linux (any distro in this matter) to provide the teacher and student the ability to use new technology. The shortcoming of windows 98se is lack support of usb drive, but we can't afford to upgrade to WindowsXP (lack of money and having to upgrade the hardware as well). In short, my school accept my suggestion to experimenting with linux distro. Frankly I believe it is a quick success as student didn't notice any diffences amount the linux the use now with windows they used to use. They even feeling happy as the can use their 256mb thumbdrive!
I jump to joy!

VIRTUALIZATION TECHNOLOGY FOR FREE (as in free lunch)
Before I go any further, let me tell you about my experience. I am quite familiar with virtualization concept for quite a while back in 2002. I've been tinkering with VirtualPC and VMWare workstation (the later is the one that i use most). Ever since microsoft tookover connectix, microsoft have marketed VPC as the own brand, microsoft virtulpc 2004, and it's been quite expensive. Unfortunately, microsoft have decided NOT to offer for WindowsXP Home Edition user, and that makes me migrated to vmware workstation by becoming one of their tester.
Anyway, 2005 i believe is a year where vmware decided to offer virtualization for free by offering a vmware player for download. Not only that, it support windowsxp home edition (the one that preloaded with my notebook) which is a bless for me. NOW just recently, microsoft has announced that their virtual pc 2004 SP1 is now available for download without any charges/fee.
I believe, it's a smart move to compete with vmware and due to the existence of new, enhance, powerful, TOTALLY FREE, virtualization technology offering named XEN virtualization.
What's is the purpose of virtualization. Well you can setup a new 'virtual' pc inside you own OS (called host os) like any distribution of linux as a guest host. (I use vmware to familiarize myself with ubuntu, and learning how to setup a network within linux and windows) . Oh you can also installed windows 3.1x, windows 98 or latest windows, provided you have separate license. VirtualPC is cost-free but GUEST PC is NOT. You need a proper license for that. Never mind, just let linux occupy you virtualpc (but not supported directly).
I can't make you understand just by typing here. Why don't you just google this keyword 'free virtualization' you will get the right info.

Portable Applications Getting A Momentum with U3
Mana tau. Oktober 2006 (bulan ni) merupakan pelancaran U3. Ok.

Ya, Linux adalah OS, Tidak, Linux bukan sama MSWindows
Apa itu linux? sebelum anda meneroka lebih jauh, saya galakkan anda membaca artikel ini, Linux is Not Windows. Anda akan ketahui perbezaannya.
[E]
Don't you think we humans are so lucky that we always have a choices so we can make a choice. For example, our computer operating system. Most of Malaysian users used Microsoft Windows (3.11 'till XP and soon Vista), be it properly licensed or not. Well all that are cost to use. Windows XP Home edition cost us RM399 (I don't know the price now). But 'BukanOri' is totally different story. However, do you know that there are alternative OS based on Linux kernel that is LEGIT, WITH PROPER LICENSE (GPL), AND NO PAYMENT (read NO COST). Just take one linux distribution call UBUNTU, it's a legit product that are developed and produced by one company named CANONICAL, but with a promised to make it available to all mankind freely, all you need is downloading the cd image or you can request a free shipment to your address. Don't believe me? BELIEVE IT!
What is Linux? Before you go any further, I suggest you start a reading on this article, Linux is Not Windows. You can see the differences.

OSS adalah akronim kepada 'Open Source Software', FLOSS pula 'Free, Libre and Open Source Software', manakalah FOSS pula 'Free and Open Source Software'.
JOM OSSkan diri kita, tak pe, lakukan perlahan-lahan.
[E]Have you ever heard of the acronym OSS, FLOSS and FOSS? Do you know that there is are free softwares with standard qualities in this world?
Today I'd like to invite all of you, my dear educators, to take the opportunity, without feeling guilty and any money flowing out. OSS stands for Open Source Software, FLOSS is a Free Libre and Open Source Software, whereas FOSS is for Free and Open Source Software. Actually, Free software is not an open source software, but mostly OSS is free! You don't believe me, why don't you try googling this word; open source software. I can assure you, a lot of information can be retrieved from the net. The main thing is, YOU ARE MUST HAVE A DESIRE TO KNOW AND WILLING TO LEARN NEW THINGS. THAT IS ALL.
BTW, OSS also available for Windows, but mostly downloadable for open source operating system like GNU/Linux (ubuntu, opensuse, mandriva (free edition), freespire, etc) or free OS such as FreeBSD atau OpenBSD, opensolaris, etc.
So, lets open ourselves to OSS, be it at slow pace or not. At least, we are willing to incorporate a new value i.e. 'Respects to other IP', in responds to the government campaigns.

Asalamualaikum
Jumpa lagi.
With Allah's will, I will continue using both Malays and English in my next post.
Oh, FYI, I consider myself as a Linux user, selain WindowsXP. Currently, I am using ubuntu. Prior to this, I've used Mandrake (now Mandriva). I will talk about linux more often next time.
See you soon.
